Fallingwater is one of the most famous private residences ever built. Designed by premiere architect Frank Lloyd Wright, this well-known home is perched atop a waterfall over a branch of the Youghiogheny River. Our knowledgeable guide will point out dramatic vistas, cantilevered terraces, and the harmonious union of art and nature.
After our tour we will proceed to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort for our overnight stay. Nemacolin Woodlands is a 5 star destination nestled in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania. Here we will be staying at the Lodge which was constructed in 1968 as a game preserve and extensively renovated by the current owner, Joseph Hardy III. Of particular note is their Spa which is rated in the top 10 North American Spas. Peace of mind and tranquility is their recurring theme.
We will enjoy a buffet lunch and seated dinner on Sunday. Monday morning after our buffet breakfast we will tour Kentuck Knob, another Frank Lloyd Wright design. Kentuck Knob is called the child of Fallingwater and is still privately owned by British Lord Peter Palumbo. Located in the breathtaking Laurel Highlands, this distinct property appears to be almost a part of the mountain itself.
The fall foliage should be spectacular in October and the views incredible. A box lunch will be served on the way back to Virginia.
